We are a co-ed Venturing Crew that meets in the Portage Lakes area of Southern Summit County, but we do a whole lot more than just meetings!
We have backpacked at Philmont Scout Reservation 3 times in the last 8 years. We have canoed a 130 mile trek in Central Michigan. We've caved in Kentucky, whitewater rafted in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and done other adventuresome things for the past 12 years.
We also do a lot of local camping and attend "Outdoor Living History" events, such as hosting a Mountain Man camping weekend in Central Pennsylvania, where Indian-hole fires and muzzle-loading rifles were a couple of the top attractions.
So, if you are 13 1/2 to 20 years old, you can certainly find things to do with us. (No matter your taste in high-adventure vs local "theme-related" camping) And, YOU decide what we do!
We meet on all odd Thursdays (1st, 3rd & 5th) at Messiah Lutheran Church at 4700 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44319. If you live in Northern Stark County to Cuyahoga Falls, you are within about a 15 minute or less drive to our meeting place. We'd love to see you there.
